Privacy Policy

Short version: we collect nothing, and there is no server of ours between you and your storage except one clearly marked case. Your photos and videos go from your phone to the storage you own, and we never see them. The one exception worth knowing about is the PixCarry Desktop relay, described below — and even that never keeps a copy.

We collect nothing

PixCarry has no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising, and no crash-reporting or tracking SDK of any kind. There is no profile of you anywhere, because we never collect anything to build one from. Specifically, we never receive:

  • Your photos or videos, or anything derived from them.
  • The contents of your storage destinations.
  • Your destination credentials — access keys, passwords, SSH keys. They are stored in the iOS Keychain on your device and sent only to the destination you configured them for.
  • Your name, email address, contacts, or location.

Where your files go

PixCarry uploads directly from your device to the destination you choose — S3-compatible storage (Amazon S3, Cloudflare R2, Backblaze B2, Wasabi, DigitalOcean Spaces, MinIO, Garage), SFTP, FTP, WebDAV, PhotoPrism, or your own HTTP endpoint. For all of these, the transfer is between your device and your destination; nothing passes through us. Once a file arrives, that destination's own terms and security apply, not ours.

The PixCarry Desktop relay

The PixCarry Desktop destination is the exception, so it is worth being precise about.

When you send photos to PixCarry Desktop, the app first tries to reach your computer directly over your own Wi-Fi. That path involves us not at all. But a phone and a computer often cannot reach each other directly — different networks, mobile data, a router that blocks it — so when the direct path fails, the transfer falls back to a relay server we run at www.pixcarry.com, which passes the file along to your paired computer.

What that means in practice:

  • The file passes through our server on its way to your computer. It is streamed straight through to the waiting desktop app and is never written to disk and never retained — the relay keeps no copies, no queue, and no history of file contents.
  • The connection is encrypted (HTTPS) between your devices and the relay. Because the relay hands the file to your computer, it is not end-to-end encrypted at that hop: technically, the bytes exist in our server's memory for the moment they are in flight.
  • Running that server means it keeps ordinary web-server logs — connection times, IP addresses, and the pairing ID your desktop app displays — used to operate and debug the service, never for profiling and never shared.
  • Nothing else uses the relay. Every other destination type bypasses it entirely, and so does PixCarry Desktop whenever your two devices can see each other directly.

If you would rather nothing of yours ever touched our machines, use any of the other destination types, or keep both devices on the same network.

Subscriptions

PixCarry Plus is sold entirely through Apple. The app asks your device's own App Store framework whether a subscription is active and gets a yes or no; there is no subscription service, no analytics provider, and no server of ours in that path. We never see your payment details, and we receive nothing that identifies you. See Apple's Privacy Policy for how Apple handles the purchase itself.

Permissions the app asks for

  • Photo library. Required. It is how PixCarry finds the photos and videos to transfer, and how it removes originals from the device when you explicitly ask it to. iOS shows its own confirmation before anything is deleted.
  • Local network. Only used to discover PixCarry Desktop on your own Wi-Fi so files can go straight across the network instead of over the internet.

What stays on your device

PixCarry keeps a local record of which photo it has sent where, so it never uploads the same file twice. That record lives in the app's own storage on your phone and is removed when you delete the app. Deleting the app also removes the credentials from the Keychain.

Children's privacy

PixCarry is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your rights

Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to export or erase on request. Deleting the app removes everything PixCarry stored on your device; cancelling in the App Store ends the subscription.

If we change anything material, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above.
